and now I'm way ahead of him
D's gotten me hooked on Culdcept Saga, so I've been obsessed with playing that the last couple weeks.

Because I'm a dork, I've been naming my books after ToA characters, so it was only a matter of time before I got this message:

Overwrite "New Book 7" with "Luke", a copy of "Asch"?

No! Don't do it!

What'd you think of the season finale for 24 btw? I thought it was pretty good, considering how they must have done every conceivable plot twist twice by now. Tony is bad, very bad. I love him. Hope he comes back.

It was okay, a little too open, but maybe that'll carry over to next year.

I wish they'd just left Tony dead.

We hope they have a different president next time. D hated this one and called it an Administration of Fail.

I don't know the Tony from Season's Past but it did seem that he became a caricature of Vengeance.

You know, I'm tired of the villains being American. Can we have something different?

The Prez's daughter was meant to be super bitchy and I think she achieved that. People do hate her guts, right? Madame president seemed rather like a waffle.

Tony really fell apart. I mean, I get the progression with his wife and child being murdered, but I really miss the old Tony who had Jack's back.

Probably not? It seems no matter who the original terrorists/bad guys have been--Muslim, African, Chinese, Mexican--it's pretty much been rich white guys behind it every time.

I hope we were supposed to hate the daughter, because we sure did. This show has a hard time with female characters. Renee I think was a good addition this year, but in the past, a female character could be counted on to be evil, stupid, and/or a victim. Michelle and Chloe were the exceptions, I think, and Kim, who used to be in the stupid/victim mold, seems to have finally grown up and gotten it together, which is nice to see. But generally, they just don't write females well, at least IMO.

Was Renee a new character? She seems to know Jack very well from the past. I think she was done fairly well, although not possessing agency of her own until later. The scene where Jack talks to her about "Crossing the Line" was very good, I thought. Ultimately, she ends up following in Jack's footsteps; unlike Jack, she knows full well the consequences and the price she'll be paying.

Yeah, she's new. The whole FBI crew was new. It seemed like they were developing her in a way that would bring her back, but who knows. People come and go on this show.
