When addressing, I realized I don't know my sister's boyfriend's last name. So I left him off. I mean, he's a boyfriend, and I've met him exactly once, so sorry, he doesn't merit listing on a Christmas card.
But we met him for the first time last year, didn't have a present for him (because we didn't know him), a year later he's still around but we still don't know him (haven't seen him since), so we don't know what to do about a present. We're currently on the "no" side of the line.
We asked D's mom and her new husband for their take, and Mr. D's Mom said, "Well, what did you guys do for me?" Difference being we knew him, saw him often, but in years past, we got them joint presents. So there's that option. But my sister is the only one who hasn't responded to my email asking for gift ideas, and we're going up there week after next, so if she doesn't tell me anything, it'll be a gift card, and she can decide whether she wants to share it or not.
I guess it seems rude of us not to get this guy a gift, but he's not a member of the family, and we don't know him. So while I feel weird not buying anything, I also don't like feeling obligated to get something for a person I've met once and is not a part of my life in any meaningful way.
Seriously have got to finish one of my drabbles this weekend. The one I'm working on is OOC and makes no canon sense, but it's not like anyone will know that.
