pool days
D got a 98 on his history final, and he's off until classes start again on the 17th. We're going to celebrate his end-of-term with a few days in Biloxi next week. We've got some free hotel nights, so that's awesome.

I've got a few points outlined that I may want to cover in my next couple of chapters, but I'm still not sure how it's all going to work out. I'm planning to do some writing next week while he plays poker, but I'll probably actually spend all my time at the pool.

I really need to brainstorm this stuff out, though. I just can't get in the headspace.

So I've been reading a lot instead. I've been getting a lot of books through PBS and tearing through them like nothing. After having it on my wishlist for a year, I finally scored a copy of Things I've Learned From Women Who've Dumped Me. Now if I could just remember why I was supposed to read this.....

Things I've Learned From Women Who've Dumped Me.

Sounds like the story of Touya's life. Hey wait...

Fic I'll never get to writing

"I'm home."

Tomoyo rose from her seat. "You sure took your time; I was about to start raiding your fridge."

"Won't find much." Touya put his backpack on the coffee table as he surveyed the apartment with a whistle. "You really tidied the place up."

"Small payback for sponging off of you so often. By the way, you had a visitor while you were gone."

"Who was it?"

"Mizuki Kaho."

Touya stepped back out from the bathroom and came up to Tomoyo, who stood leaning against the wall outside in the hallway. "What did she want?"

"She came to ask if she could have you back. I told her to bugger off. Hope that was okay."

"Tomoyo..."

"She had her chance." Her small hands fisted to her side; she was angrier than she ever remembered. "You're not some pinball machine she gets to keep playing with unlimited continues."

"Tomoyo."

She didn't realize she was crying until his finger touched her cheek and came away with a tear drop, and the fear and doubt brought about by their former teacher's words from earlier returned in full force.

She wrapped her arms tightly around his trunk and buried her face in his chest. He held her and made small circles with his hand again her back, pushing the black feelings away by the comforting gesture and his presence alone.

"You're not some pinball machine she gets to keep playing with unlimited continues."

I really, really like this analogy.

Re: Fic I'll never get to writing

All the better because no one knows if it's true or not.

Add Nakuru and we have enough material for a 20-volume shoujo manga.

And don't forget Meiling!

Hey, would it be too weird to give Nat a dagger to carry with her? One of those strap-to-your-leg-under-your-dress things? I mean, girlfriend's a master archer, but that won't do her much good in close quarters, or if, you know, she doesn't have her bow with her.

And would it be too weird/kinky if Guy gave it to her as a birthday gift?

Re: Fic I'll never get to writing

Meiling... of course! Honestly though I've never considered how the two of them could get together, what angle/approach it would take.

Dagger is a great idea. I think he could present it to her, pretending it was the birthday gift, and when she acts disappointed he gives her what he had originally planned.

YAY!

There were maybe 10 people ahead of me in the wish queue, so I thought, "Cool, shouldn't take long for me to get a copy." IT TOOK A YEAR! But now I has it and will read it next.
