Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?
Both more and less. Hmm, well, it's 20 less than last year. And most of them were drabble-y. Lots of short dashed-off stuff. So that's disappointing. I don't have any good one-shots other than maybe APK. But I also wrote 10 chapters of a new mutlipart fic, so that's something. So overall I wrote less than I would have expected, but it's been a long, long time since I've written 27000 words of the same thing.
What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January 2009?
Nothing, I guess, except I hadn't written Lorelai/Christopher before. It's not that I'm so surprised because it's outrageous, but just because I've never been inspired to. It was done from a prompt, not my own sudden idea. And all the Guy/Anise stuff is just pure evil. Make it stop! (Oh, and OMG, Peony/Anise, my new favorite thing!)
What's your favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest?
Other than How Far, I guess, despite what I said above, I have to go with But It's My Birthday. It could totally happen.
Did you take any writing risks this year? (See above for unexpected pairings, etc.) What did you learn from them?
OMG why have I started another multichapter thing that I'll never finish??? You can tell I've already stalled on it and I haven't even gotten to the sex yet!!! WTF?
Do you have any fanfic goals for the New Year?
To keep going on HF.
Parts of HF have been fun. Parts have been a struggle. Thank God for Anise. She's easy to write. She kind of fills the Meiling or Nakuru role for me, in that she gets all the good lines and gets to say the things our proper princess can't.
Surrender. It's just so unoriginal. I fell back on a total cliche because I couldn't come up with anything else. I meant to go back to it and fix it but never did. On the other hand, a few days later I had the first chapter of HF written, so in a way, writing something disappointing led to me writing something not so bad. Um, yay? Also disappointing is that HF hasn't gotten to the sex yet!!!
Most Sexy and Best Sexy Moment:
What did I just say? I believe HF features the first time any of my pairings have ever waited until they're married, and since I haven't gotten to the wedding yet, no sexytimes. Boo. I just think, because of who they are, realistically, they would wait, despite my writing about them not doing so in other fics. So if this is my "definitive post-canon fic", waiting it is.
Hardest to Write:
I'll just paste my answer from last year. Almost everything. Writing is hard.
Most Unintentionally Telling:
Geez, this is where I'm probably supposed to say something about the Guy/Anise drabbles, but I won't.
