Taken from peacewish:

Pick a character and I will give and explain the top five three ideas/concepts/etc I keep in mind while writing that character that I believe are essential to accurately depicting them.

Yeah, I changed it from five to three. I don't think I could come up with five for anybody.

Current Mood: ditzy ditzy

(i remember reading shadows and being in awe--almost like you fleshed out touya's character more in a believable way)

It took me a while to get him right. There are parts that are OOC when I look back, but I think eventually I found a good baseline for him.

Okay, three things I keep in mind, whether they're canon or not:

1. Serious fear of abandonment, tempered with underlying mother issues. While he may not even be aware of them, these are going to affect his relationships, and as a result, it's very difficult to get close to him and gain trust.

2. On that same line, he has very little interest in making friends. Whether that's being introverted or antisocial, being popular and surrounded by people holds no appeal. Someone really has to be special to make it through. This is why he tends to get involved with his best friends.

3. He's very, very protective of the people he cares for, especially his family. We all knew that. But it's important to keep in mind to get him right.

1. He's smart. He's very, very, very smart. He knows a lot about some things and some about a lot of things.

2. He's also physical and prefers working with his hands or actually doing something. He's not going to be a lazy lord/prince. He needs to do things.

3. His time as a servant made him much more aware of the upstairs/downstairs dynamic, and he tries to always be respectful/appreciative of the staff. He also knows that he could have turned out lazy and spoiled like young Luke if things had gone differently, and he tries not to take anything he has for granted.

4. His loyalty/respect has to be earned, but once it's there, he will always have your back. He will do anything for his friends.

5. This is more on the relationship front and a head-canon thing, but I think he and Nat become very close during Luke's missing years. While she can't help still treating him like a servant from time to time and bossing him around, he doesn't mind. In fact, he kind of likes it.

Huh, that is five after all.

You know, Guy sounds like he would make a good ruler.

It's the people who don't want it who are best suited for it.

From CCS of course, Sonomi.

Heh, from "the things we all know" files:

1. She's stubborn as all hell. It's a family trait.

2. Her daughter is the most precious thing in the world to her. Yes, even more than her company. She does her best to be a good mother. Work is important, but she'll drop everything if her daughter needs her.

3. No matter how long she lives or how much time she spends with him or how much she reluctantly comes to like him, Fujitaka will always--on some level--annoy the crap out of her.

You know what the world needs? A fic where Fujitaka and Sonomi are stranded on an uninhabited island. The title would be... "Anthropology 101."

Go for it. I'd read it.

Kaho. (Not your car.)
mellowcandle From: mellowcandle Date: January 20th, 2011 08:43 pm (UTC) (Link)
1. She's very guarded and ambiguous. She has a way of lying and telling the truth at the same time. She likes riddles and questions, as long as she's not the one who has to answer them.

2. She knew from the first that it would never last with Touya, but she couldn't help herself. Here was someone who would understand her, yet she couldn't completely open up. There was always part of herself that she held back, afraid. When she left, she had to bury her feelings so she could move on, but she never really got over him. It's one reason they could never really be "friends" again like she'd offered.

3. She's convinced herself that everything that happens is as it must be. It's how she rationalizes her actions. She thinks that fulfilling her responsibility is enough, and she pretends she doesn't feel stifled by it.

You know, I was curious about Kaho as well, I'm glad someone else asked you. She's probably the only character in CCS that I never really 'got'.

When I was RPing her, I really just had to make stuff up. She's pretty undefined in canon. I took what little there was and came up with my own characterization. Maybe it's not canon, but it works for me.
