I had a flashback to being about seven years old and riding in the car with my parents, who listened to Neil Diamond. I'd grumble because, ugh, old people music.
So listening to "Shilo", I realized... I am now old.
Inside, I'm still fourteen, and probably always will be.
But voluntarily listening to Neil Diamond is not something I ever thought I'd do. This wasn't the first time, because, yeah, some of his stuff is catchy, but it was the first time it really hit me, thirty years ago my parents were listening to this and I thought it was torture.
They also used to turn on the country station to punish my sisters and me when we were acting up. That would probably still work.
