I totally agree with you on the adultery thing. And why is it that people get married and divorced so easily? I can understand why some people get divorced, but a lot of people just get married and then, oh well, whatevs. It's like nothing has meaning anymore.

On the other hand, for me the concept of sin is so...I don't know. When I was young one of my friends said that since I didn't go to church I was a sinner and I was going to hell. And I've grown up with so many gay friends and family members and I've been told, and heard them be told, that they are sinning. And I don't believe that. So for me, 'sin' doesn't mean 'wrong', it just means 'what certain people believe is wrong'. And maybe I am wrong about that, and maybe I am a sinner, but I'd like to think that I'm still a good person that still knows right from wrong because at least I have common sense. :)

The way I read it, and maybe I was being too sensitive to it given the other anti-conservative vibes from the writers, but I read it as them saying that it's good to get away from the concept of absolute morality, and it's this trend toward moral relativism that I think is really hurting society. I know this is a complaint people have had since the beginning of time and it's nothing new, but I really am saddened and disturbed by how people act anymore.

Yeah, I'm totally with you on that point. The world is turning into a sad place. It's like people don't have enough common sense to know what's right and wrong, or even how to be good people anymore.

I guess I'm just overly sensitive to the word sin. Maybe because I think I'm basically a good person and I get tired of people telling me I'm going to hell because I sinned by breaking some rule of some religion, like eating meat on Good Friday or something.

Now those are the people I don't get, because to me, it's missing the whole point of salvation, mercy, love, and forgiveness that I thought Christianity was supposed to be about.

On the other hand I'm a total misanthrope, so.

Right! That's what gets me so upset, is that some people seem like they just use it to cast judgement on others instead of what Jesus really taught. I mean, I don't consider myself religious, but I have read the Bible. Sometimes I wonder if some people that claim to be Christians ever really read the teachings of Jesus. Because I'm pretty sure he said not to cast judgement on others.
