life moves pretty fast
Tomorrow is D's last day at his internship. Friday, the kids in his team gave him and the other student teacher a little party. They gave him a big banner that said "We will miss you, Mr G" that most of them signed, and a bag filled with school supplies like index cards, highlighters, and post-its. So sweet! He said he wished they hadn't done that, because now he feels like he has to leave them with some words of wisdom on Monday.

He came up with a good idea, though. After fretting about making some sort of speech and going all meta, he decided to write out some of his favorite quotes, and put them on slips of paper that the kids can draw out of a bowl like fortunes. Each one will be unique so that each kid gets their own special little bit of inspiration.

I told him to make sure to include my favorite quote from the greatest philosopher of our generation: "A person should not believe in an -ism; he should believe in himself".
