I'm starting to wonder if people might literally die if they sat through a movie without looking at their cell phones...

Here's the part where I feel pity for the rest of the country for not having the local chain Alamo Drafthouse Theaters, which will unabashedly kick out anyone caught talking or pulling out the phone. They're super proud of their reputation, and love to play a recording that a pissed-off customer left on their voicemail, after getting kicked out for looking at her phone. She rants for five whole minutes about how rude they are and how they'll never get her business again, at which point the audience always applauds. Nor will Alamo let in teenagers unless they're accompanied by an adult, which is a big help.

I read an article about them somewhere (Entertainment Weekly, maybe) and wish desperately we had something like that here. Our theater puts up the usual "Hey, cell phones are annoying to people watching the movie, so turn them off" message on screen, but no one pays attention.

Maybe it's my antisocial side coming out again, but I don't understand this need to be in constant communication with people, especially while I'm trying to watch Thor.
