We finally got to rewatch the first two episodes of Free! last night! D realized that he did promise me we could.

So.... RAGE ON BITCHES!

I'm already realizing that 1) I need to do a much better job writing Gou (seriously, in the second episode she pretty much says everything I need her to reflect on) and 2) I'd forgotten I'd wanted to have Nagisa and Gou make fun of Ama-chan a little bit. (I also wondered, hey, what the heck is Rin going to think of Ama-chan? They never meet in Season One, do they?)

Oh, and Rin, how I love you. How are you a ginormous crybaby and still so f'ing hot?

This is such a great show, because it's about characters. Yeah, you could say it's about a sports club or fanservice, but that's selling it short. The characters are strong, and in the end, it's about friendship.

I told D this is the problem I have with some of the other shows he's tried to get me to watch. I told him, "You know, by the third episode of Free!, I knew everyone's name, I was invested in the story, I had a favorite character and a possible ship." (Which I later officially punched my ticket for.) That was the thing with Kyoukai no Kanata: three episodes in, I still couldn't remember the main character's name (or anyone else's), and I didn't care about the story. I will say it had a great ending theme though. I even have it on my Zune. Seriously, "Daisy" was the best thing about that show.

I tried to watch Free! but I just couldn't get into it. It seems like I'm not a very patient person these days...perhaps I'll give it another try.

Aw, you don't have to like it. I was just happy for once to have a show that focused on male characters and friendships instead of the moe schoolgirl stuff D usually finds for us.

Ugh, moe schoolgirl stuff....lol.

No, I actually think I *will* like it--I just have been really bad about starting things and then not following through with them after very little exposure lately. I keep dropping books, tv shows, even movies. It's terrible. I think cuz I just always have so much stuff I'm into that I bounce around a lot and if it doesn't resonate with me really early on then I give up. But I have to learn to stick things out longer. Recently I powered through the beginning of this book my friend recced me and I'm glad that I stuck with it because later it got really good. lol

Oh, I have that problem, too. And then sometimes I'll get hooked on something for a period of time and that sucks away time I could be spending on books or new shows or writing--like Sims again; D got me one of the expansions for Christmas, and I got sucked into playing that for like a month. I think I might be over it for the time being so I can work on other things now. Maybe.
