What the hell, did they just redeem Hugo?

Dammit, Disney, now my fic doesn't work! I need him to continue being a sexist, arrogant jackass!

Maybe this was just the momentary high of winning the race, and he'll go back to his old self.

At least they remembered Sofia and James were even on the team. Although just two episodes ago Amber was practically singing about how in love she is with her twin, and now it's back to just, "Whatever, don't fuck up, James."

There should be a support group for people like me.

"Hi, I'm L-chan, and I take Disney Junior shows way too seriously."

sexist, arrogant jackass

Now that you mention it, there's one of those in every other Disney feature animation, dating back to... uh, Beauty and the Beast?

Sexist jackasses and jealous siblings, yeah.

I guess I'm just missing out when it comes to this show. I managed to find and watch two mostly-complete episodes of Sofia on a Disney website, mostly because you keep raving about it (I have a few other adult friends that agree with you too), and I was just so... underwhelmed. The first one was about Sofia trying to do magic homework and recruiting the local sorcerer, which was mildly funny, and the other one was about Sofia trying out for the boys-only polo team. The yes-we-can! girly theme was so trite I felt like I was watching an 80s cartoon. I was left scratching my head and wondering just what's captured your imagination so much. Did I just find really bad episodes?

I did read your fic about when James got a black eye, and as usual, I loved your writing. The short story was witty, dramatic, and brought out a complexity that I never saw in the show itself. If you've written more Sophia fic, I'll read it. But I can't say I'm driven to go hunting for more source material.

As much as I love it, I admit it's really hit or miss, and the just-okay episodes outnumber the wonderful ones, but the good ones I can watch over and over. I'd say "A Royal Mess", "Princess Butterfly", and "Two Princesses and a Baby" are at the top of my list. Basically anything where Amber gets to steal the show. If Amber and James are barely (or not at all) in the episode, it automatically falls to the bottom of my list. The twins are my favorite part, and I'm mostly intrigued by the family dynamic, at least from a writing standpoint. Since it's a show for little tiny kids, though, I don't expect step-family issues to get much screentime when we can have Disney princess cameos, cutesy songs, and talking animals. (As much as I flove Wayne Brady, a little Clover goes a long way.)

Thank you for reading my fic in spite of being underwhelmed. That's very awesome of you. I'm wanting to do something twin-focused, but... too much else I'm supposed to be writing.
