thinking is hard
We're still thinking about getting a PS3.

Yes, a 3, not a 4.

When I turned in a bunch of stuff at the used bookstore, I had enough credit to get a PS3 bundle that comes with The Last of Us. I've been looking at it, but I don't know if I can justify getting a new system, especially one that's a previous generation at this point.

We've had our XBox 360 for six years now, and even though I've bought Dragon Age: Inquisition for it (way to be slow with shipping btw, Amazon), we've definitely slowed down on console games. D plays mostly PC games through his Steam account.

There are quite a few games on PS3 already that I'd like to get, mostly some of the other Tales games and other JRPGs, but I just don't know if it's a good decision, if we'd really get the most out of it, how much longer they'll be releasing new games for the system, and if that means we'd have to be buying a new generation console in a year or two anyway. I think I read that Kingdom Hearts III will only be for PS4, so there's that.

I don't know; does anyone have any opinions on such a thing? Is it worth getting a PS3 at this late stage, or better to wait?

The PS3 is my favourite console, so maybe I'm biased, but it's about 800% worth getting. In my case especially since it's region free, so I play games in Japanese on it as well! But for the amount of Tales and Atelier games on it alone it's worth getting.

If I could go back I would've gotten the PS3 in the first place, I think. We debated both and looked over the library of available games, and the fact that Vesperia was available tricked me into hoping that more Tales would be released for XBox instead of ToV being an exception. Should've done my research better.

If anyone has any good Black Friday sales, I may get one for Christmas, then use my store credits for games.

I'm not familiar with consoles, but you ought to write out the pros and cons and compare them side by side. As far as price, with Thanksgiving around the corner there must be some nice bundle deals for PS4 (and possibly 3). Do you want the Last of Us? I didn't know you were into online multi-player shooters.

It got excellent reviews and I do like a game with a good story. The other bundles came with Lego games, and I'm not crazy about those. I'd at least check it out and if it's not my thing, I could trade it in, or maybe D would like it.

We're keeping our powder dry and going to look at Black Friday sales before making a decision. I'm just wanting to use my $250 store credit on something substantial instead of frittering it all away on random stuff.

I think The Last of Us would work better as a novel. Sometimes it feels like the (oft repetitive) game play interrupts the story. Great case for storytelling through games.

I've heard The Last of Us is amazing. May be worth it just for that.

I miss my old original playstation.

Every review says it was the game of the year, so I'd be curious to check it out.

I miss my Atari 2600. Even the ET game.

Ha! I miss my Atari, too. I loved that system. Pole position was my jam.
