So I'm doing yard work, which is already my least favorite thing, hunched over on my knees in the blazing sun pulling weeds, when the lens of my glasses falls out. I take them off to see the rim has snapped and is poking out jagged like a broken spring.

I had to find my old glasses, or at least a pair of old glasses, since we've moved and who knows where my most recent previous pair is, and I guess these are they, which means they're at least seven years old, and I can see okay, but they're heavy and I don't like them and I don't know if this headache I'm suffering is because of that or from being out in the f'ing blazing August sun.

I was trying to wait to get new glasses until after Christmas when we get our cashback rebate check from Costco, but you know, we plan and God chuckles.

I'm over this heat. It hit 100 yesterday. Is it fall yet?

I got my last pair of glasses from Costco, then ordered a backup pair from Zenni Optical. Not bad! And the savings were significant.

We've been having a cooler than average summer. Didn't go above 90 more than 10 days this year.

Heck, our pool stays at 88-90 degrees. The only good thing about the sun--it's a free pool heater.
